Engineering the AERIX Series – The Art of Balanced Performance

For years, lightweight road rims have faced the same dilemma — reduce grams and risk strength, or add reinforcement and lose responsiveness. At BTLOS, we refused to compromise. The AERIX series was created to achieve both: race-level lightness with long-term structural integrity.

Precision through Data. Performance through Materials.

Born from thousands of real-world data points, the AERIX Series isn’t just engineered — it’s decoded from performance itself.

Every micro-deformation, every flex point, every stress signature was captured, analyzed, and refined. From this, we sculpted a rim that understands how forces travel through every fiber — and responds with pure efficiency.

Through hybrid composite layering, we blend ultra-high modulus carbon with strategically reinforced fibers, creating a structure that’s both impossibly light and brutally strong.

Material is placed only where it earns its place — preserving torsional and lateral stiffness while stripping away every unnecessary gram. The result: a rim that translates every watt into motion, and every impact into confidence.

BTLOS MPSH Technology Spoke Hole

Built from the Inside Out

The AERIX PRO RS52 starts with how it’s made — not how it looks. Instead of drilling spoke holes after molding, BTLOS integrates each spoke interface directly during carbon layup.

This Fiber-Continuous Spoke Hole Design (Only for the AERIX RS52 pro) preserves uninterrupted carbon strands around every hole, forming the strongest possible spoke bed.

The benefit is immediate and lasting: spoke tension remains even, micro-cracks are virtually eliminated, and the wheel stays true longer — even under heavy torque or braking.

The Bowl-Shaped Advantage(Only for AERIX pro rims)

Each spoke hole sits on a bowl-shaped carbon platform, molded concave to match nipple alignment.

This small detail solves one of the biggest hidden problems in wheel design — lateral bending stress at the nipple base.

With this platform, spoke tension flows naturally through the fibers instead of across them, ensuring smoother load transfer, easier wheel building, and a wheel that holds tension evenly across all spokes.

Front–Rear Differentiated Design

The RS52 doesn’t treat both wheels the same — because they don’t do the same job.

  • Front (335g): Lightweight for precision steering and terrain feedback.
  • Rear (370g): Reinforced for drivetrain torque and higher rider loads.

This pairing gives riders flexibility:

Configuration Rider Weight Limit Character
335g + 335g ≤100kg Ultra-light climbing setup
335g + 370g ≤115kg Balanced, all-round performance
370g + 370g ≤125kg Ultra-light climbing setup

A Perfect Match for Modern Tires

The 25mm internal width pairs seamlessly with 30C–32C tires — the new standard for performance road and endurance racing.

It improves cornering grip, stability, and comfort while maintaining aerodynamic advantage on fast flats.

Precision You Can Feel

Professional wheel builders often notice the difference before a single spoke is tensioned.

The AERIX series’ rim perfect roundness and flatness out of the mold make truing effortless.

Even spoke tension builds up cleanly, and the wheel remains balanced after thousands of kilometers — a hallmark of high-precision engineering.

The BTLOS AERIX PRO RS52 rim strikes a perfect balance between lightweight construction and aerodynamic performance. Weighing just 335g ±15g, and paired with the GravelXpert20 Pro Hub and Extralight Carbon Spokes, the complete wheelset comes in at an impressively low 1058g ±25g

Why Choose the BTLOS AERIX Series rims?

Our confidence isn’t built on words, but on proof.
A dedicated fan once mailed us an “ultra-light rim” from another well-known brand for comparison.
We chose the AERIX RS50, which is closest to the contour, for testing and comparison.
Both have an inner width of 25mm and a height of 50mm.
However, the AERIX RS50 is lighter at only 349g, compared to XXX Top Brand's 361g.

Impact Test

  • XXX Top Brand 50 Failed to withstand the 70J impact; no conclusion. Since we set the initial test to 70J, this does not prove the rim is unsafe.
  • BTLOS Aerix RS50 passed all tests (11 impacts) and remained intact under a 100J impact, far exceeding safety standards.

BTLOS road wheelsets must pass a 90-joule impact test before they can be released to the market, while the UCI test standard is only 40-joule.

Lateral & Radial Stiffness Test

The stiffness performance of both rims is very close.

  • XXX Top Brand 50 delivers higher radial stiffness, providing better vertical support and quicker response.
  • BTLOS Aerix RS50 offers excellent radial stiffness and superior lateral stiffness, making it ideal for sprinting and cornering stability.
